Lake Scary 5k Smashes Records in 2024, Raises $15,000 for UCP Lake Mary

The Lake Mary Prep community showed its spirit in a big way at the 2024 Lake Scary 5k, a fundraising event benefiting the UCP Lake Mary campus. The Halloween-themed race saw a surge in participation, with 315 registered runners, nearly double the 170 participants from the previous year. This impressive turnout resulted in a fundraising total of over $15,000, significantly exceeding last year's $9,000 and setting a new record for the event.

The success of the Lake Scary 5k is a testament to the dedication and leadership of Lake Mary Prep students Anika Sathish and Natalie Smith, who spearheaded the organization and execution of the event. Working alongside UCP representatives and club advisor Mrs. Bortz, they orchestrated a remarkable community effort.

The funds raised will make a tangible difference for UCP families, directly supporting vital therapy services and support programs at the Lake Mary campus. Beyond the financial impact, the event fostered new relationships between Lake Mary Prep and UCP, showcasing the resilience and strength of the UCP community. The celebration of Jude and his friends at UCP highlighted the positive impact of the organization's work.

Lake Scary 5k was more than just a race; it was a celebration of community, compassion, and the unwavering spirit of giving back. Organizers expressed their sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the event's resounding success, emphasizing the profound difference their support will make in the lives of UCP families.
