Lake Mary Prep 5th Grader Wins Essay Contest, Meets Governor DeSantis

Lake Mary Preparatory School (LMP) proudly announces that 5th grader Jacob Shoer won the 2024 Hispanic Heritage Month essay contest. His essay, "Honoring Hispanic Contributions to Florida's Success," earned him top honors and a special invitation to the Governor's Mansion in Tallahassee, where he met Governor Ron DeSantis. This accomplishment highlights LMP's dedication to academic excellence and cultural understanding.

Jacob's winning essay explored the significant impact of Hispanic individuals and communities on Florida's history and culture. His work impressed the judges with its clarity and thoughtful perspective, standing out among numerous entries from students across the state.

At the Governor's Mansion, Governor DeSantis presented Jacob with his prizes: a two-year Florida College Plan scholarship, a $100 gift card, and a one-year pass to all Florida State Parks.
